The pleasant, vibrant, and civil atmosphere in New Vanguardia is a result of our warm and conscientious people, but the diligent services associated with safety and coordination are critical supports in this endeavor. Duties which are associated with police in many countries are split among various organizations.

Employees of the Safety and Coordination Department are the first to call in case of emergencies. Most provinces have their own S&C department, handling fire services, traffic control, location of missing persons, and many more responsibilities. In case of major emergencies, or if provincial groups need assistance, the state Safety and Coordination Department is a highly capable and extremely mobile group which is equipped to protect against fires, storms, earthquakes, and other major disasters.

Each province also usually has its own Public Guard Agency, whose guards are responsible for protecting public property. PGA guards, and their associates in the State Property Guard Agency, don’t make arrests or interface much with the public as their duties are strictly in location security. Guard teams may be deployed in times of emergency to provide extra protection for sensitive locations.

Criminal investigations and similar jobs are undertaken by the State Investigations Administration. SIA agents are able to get the authority to search and to bring people in for questioning. They are highly trained and efficient. It’s unusual to see an SIA agent out and on duty; they are always placed on specific operations and don’t directly assist any duties of the S&C or PGA groups.

Know Your Officer

Because there are different types of official agencies whose orders must be complied with, it is important to know which you are interacting with at any time. In New Vanguardia, you should not expect to follow orders without the person identifying themselves. To facilitate this, employees of such order-giving organizations wear badges visibly (usually on the chest or shoulder). Such officers are also to identify themselves when asked, or to identify a superior.
