From the Desk of the President
To the sovereign people of the Republic of New Vanguardia:
It is time for a change.
This sovereignty has come a long way from the dark days of the Crisis Era. Under the leadership of the General People’s Party, Vanguardians have rebuilt their country into a place they are proud to call home once again. Children are once again being educated in peace and tranquility. People look forward to advancement in their careers and once again have leisure pursuits to enjoy. I am proud at everything that we have accomplished.
You should also be proud of your accomplishments, though you may not recognize them. All the people of New Vanguardia have helped in rebuilding this country. We have banished tyranny from our lands, by your hands and for your benefit.
Our friends in the international community have long criticized us for our way of government. Many have understood the necessity of the General People’s Party’s leadership of the state. Many others have not. As we can see by the prosperity enjoyed now by the people of New Vanguardia, this was not a mistake. But none of the First Generation thought that the Party would be in control forever. This was always a temporary step which would lead to New Vanguardia achieving its next stage of development.
That time is approaching.
The General People’s Party is resolved that the Republic of New Vanguardia will open itself up to multi-party government, replacing the leadership of the GPP. The next elections are presently scheduled to be held in 2026. The General People’s Party will be dissolved by the end of 2026. As such, the GPP will not participate in the next elections. We have already permitted several parties to organize and they have even gained seats in the State Assembly. Statutes are now being considered which will open up participation for even more.
It is possible that elections may be held earlier than scheduled, in which case the General People’s Party may still exist. No matter when the next State Assembly elections are held, however, the General People’s Party will not stand. In that case, the GPP will continue to exist as it winds down operations, but it will take only a consultative role in the government.
I am confident that the New Vanguardia of today is prepared to meet the challenges which face us. There is no danger of a new Crisis Era. If there was, the General People’s Party could not disband. But through political education and the success of our common efforts, we have ensured that our sovereignty can now defend itself. We had been sick near to death, but we have strengthened ourselves, and now any disease which invades us will meet antibodies and other defenses.
I myself will retire completely from politics following the dissolution of the General People’s Party. I have played my part in the rebuilding of this state and I am content. I know that I do not have to plead with the people of New Vanguardia to choose a worthy successor for this role. With all the voices of the people joined enthusiastically, I have no doubt that my successor will be my superior in every way.
The new dawn of New Vanguardia is upon us. We are witnesses to history.
Fitymi patyma!
